Writing, writing, writing

At least attempting to. I've written some today. My prior post I had put information in between those brackets, but apparently html didn't like them and erased. The stuff I wrote was pivotal to the end game and I couldn't extract any particular piece without giving it away. So no little snippet Wednesday. Now I need to think of ways to extend some of the scenes. When I'm writing the first draft I tend to write very tight. Little to no description. No extra actions or dialogue. Just what I need to get to the next scene. This is good for progress, but bad for word count. I need to remind myself to slow down and freeze the images that blur through my head, so I can create the whole picture. A picture that includes sight, sound, smell, texture, and taste. It's very important to immerse yourself in writing and the scene you are writing in, but your reader doesn't see it the way you do unless you show them. Of course, there have been many books that I've read that ran as pictures through my head instead of words. That's what I want to give my readers. The ultimate escape and a world they've never known. Which means I need to get writing if I'm ever going to have readers. :)

Sounds like you write like I do. I've had to start putting names after dialogue just to remind myself who's talking when I go back to fill in the details later.

Good luck with the writing. And speaking of, I really need to get to it myself.

That sounds familiar! I added an extra 11k in the first revisions of my novella and there's at least one more revision to do!
Hope your writing went well, Amanda!
