Slowing Down, But Trying to Speed Up

I didn't write much last week and am struggling to get back into the groove again. That whole procrastination has me in it's grasps again. I got a new game for my son's DS and it's been eating away chunks of my life. Gotta get remodivated. Why can't I have my mom take away the things I like to play with so I can do my homework? It works so well for my son.

I've posted to the 70 days Challenge and I'm pretty proud of how far I progressed this week. I wrote 10,806 words this week not including today, but I don't know if I'll get any done to today. I'm not stressing though. I'm working on rewriting and slight editing. I've been adding more scenes. At first I didn't have any of the hero POV in the first half, just the heroine, but I'm adding his view in now. There was a lot of action happening off stage during the Chapter I'm working on, so now I'm writing his side of things to bring the action into the light. I need to read a bit though today. I read quite a few genres and need to go back and read some of my favorites to help with a few scenes. So here's the current count.

It's funny how when you edit something you realize you've repeated the same word hundreds of times. My personal favorite right now seems to be "Well" in conversation. Every character is "Well, I like ...." "Well, it seems ..." So quite a few of my words are getting struck out of the novel. I'm on a seek and destroy mission on Well. I'm still working on beefing up the novel. I have several paragraphs where I report what's going on instead of show. Hopefully that will push the word count up higher than the wells that will be taken out as found.

Well, I finished. I have the resolution scene to write still which may add 1000 or more words but for all intent and purpose I've finished the story. I have been working on revising the 1st 2 chapters so far, so the word count includes those revisions. I'm at 47,139 words out of 90,000. I'm working on adding plot twists and more character development which hopefully will fill out the remainder. But I'm still proud.
